How to Relocate the Tailgate Backup Camera on a GMC Sierra 1500

Starting with the 2019 year-model, GMC equipped Sierra 1500 model trucks with one of three different types of camera systems. The first system, which includes an analog camera for traditional backup camera functionality, utilizes a large 30-pin connector to transmit its video signal to the in-dash monitor. The second two types of camera systems use a digital camera (LVDS) for standard backup camera functionality or for a 360-degree surround-view camera system that shows the truck on-screen from all four sides at once. It is important to determine which connector type the truck is equipped with before ordering a camera relocation system.
